Smax and Pog #7 - Infinte Crisis

Ok..I'll save this for a mini rant later on. This was inspired by listening to the Comic Geek Speak podcast where Jamie was complaining about the explicit gratuitous and totally unneccessary violence in mainstream super hero comics. And when i read Infinite Crisis #4 there's peoples heads being punched off, arms being ripped off and so on. It's crazy. And apparently it just gets worse too.

The theory is the kids won't be affected as they get exposed to this rubbish everywhere - but that's really not the point is it.

I'm all for violence but in the right place. More on this rant later.

Yeah..its crazy. And then in the next issue you have someone punching someone in the back of the head so there fist comes out through their face apparently.
I have a bit of an issue with all of this which I will go on about soon i promise.
I mean you can have deaths etc in comics - its just when its so gratuitously done that it bugs me.

Well said!! That issue definately was way too over-the-top as far as the violence goes. We saw the other side of that fight in Teen Titans, and they handled the events much better (nothing explicid). I would expect more people to read Infinite Crisis than I would expect to read Teen Titans, so it was definately misplaced there.
